Required Steps To Obtain A Skilled Nominated Visa Subclass 190

HomeBusinessRequired Steps To Obtain A Skilled Nominated Visa Subclass 190

The 190 Visa Australia is a skilled migration visa that allows overseas skilled workers to move to Australia and live there as permanent residents. Once granted, you will enjoy all the permanent residence benefits. Besides working and studying anywhere in Australia, you can also enrol in Medicare, the public healthcare scheme of Australia, sponsor your eligible relatives willing to come to stay with you, and apply for Australian citizenship after several years of stay.
However, to enjoy all these privileges, you must first successfully obtain your Skilled Nominated Visa Subclass 190.

Read this blog to know the step-by-step procedure for a complete application.

Step 1: Complete the tasks before you apply

Before starting the application procedure, there are some important steps to fulfil. Firstly, you must see whether you meet all the 190 Visa requirements, as mentioned here:-

• You must receive a valid nomination from a state, territory or government agency. Remember that every territory or province has its nomination criteria, and you have to meet them to qualify.
• Once you receive your nomination, you must submit an EOI (Expression of Interest).
• For the nominated occupation, you have to go through a skills assessment.
• Having relevant experience in the occupation is necessary. However, if you hold a passport from an English-speaking country, you will not need to fulfil this requirement.
• A Competent level of English is the minimum requirement.
• You must meet all the character and health requirements. To be eligible to enter Australia, you should not have any health condition that will need constant support from the government or community. In addition, you must have a good character.

As this visa is points-based, you have to check whether you score at least 65 in the total count of points. These points are given against age, English language requirement, work experience, academic qualification, etc.

After you submit your EOI, SkillSelect will assess your application to determine if you meet these points. If they are satisfied with your score, you will receive an invitation to apply.

Taking help from a registered migration agent in Perth can ensure the best possible visa outcome. So, if you decide to hire a migration professional, make sure to hire them before applying.

Step 2: Gather all the documents

Next, you must gather all the documents to support what you have claimed in your Expression of Interest. Your Visa Subclass 190 application checklist must include the following documents.

Identity documents

• As an international applicant, you have to submit certified copies of the pages of your current passport. These pages should contain your personal details, photograph, and issue and expiry dates of the passport.
• Other identity documents required are a national id card and proof of name change.

Documents about your relationship status

Depending on your current relationship status, you have to submit proper documents. Relationship documents usually include marriage, divorce, separation certificates or statutory declarations.

Character documents

If you have stayed in Australia for at least one year in the last 10 years after you have turned 16, an Australian police certificate will be required. Also, if you have stayed in any other country for at least 12 months in the last 10 years after turning 16, you must submit a police certificate issued by that country. Also, if you have served in the Army of any country, service records or discharge papers will be needed.

English language documents

You can use the result of any internationally accepted English language test to show your proficiency in English. All the applicants included in the application must have a competent level of English.

If you take the IELTS, at least 6 in each test component is required. For a PTE Academic, at least 50 in each of the four bands is the minimum requirement. For this 190 Visa, this information has to be provided at the time of invitation. So, make sure that the test result is not more than 3 years old.

Skills assessment documents

As you will be nominated based on your occupation, you have to prove that you have sufficient skills to work. Different assessing authorities conduct the assessment tests for different occupations. So, you must get assessed on your skills from the relevant authority.

If you are a medical practitioner, you may show one of these certificates provided by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency instead of skills assessment documents.

• General medical registration
• Conditional medical registration, which lets the holder practice only in their speciality without any requirement of further supervision or training

However, you must make sure that your registration stays valid when you receive the invitation to apply.

Also, if you are a solicitor or barrister, you must submit relevant admission proof to practice as a lawyer in the relevant Australian territory or state. In this case, too, the admission proof must be valid when you receive your invitation.

Partner documents

If your partner or spouse accompanies you, you have to provide proper evidence of your partner’s identity and your relationship with them.

If you are married, you have to submit the following documents for your spouse.
• Photos and identity documents
• Marriage certificate
• Character documents

If you are in a de facto relationship, you have to submit:
• Evidence that the relationship has the proper registration with an Australian Territory or State
• Sufficient documents to show that you have been in the relationship for a minimum of 12 months before applying

You have to show that the relationship is continuing and genuine for both kinds of relationships. Documents may include:
• Joint bank account statements
• Joint mortgages or leases
• Bills that contain both of your names
• Documents that prove you live in the same house

Documents required for including a dependent child

The Visa 190 will allow you to include your dependent children under 18, and for that, the following documents must be provided:

• Birth certificates or a family book containing both the parents’ names
• Statutory declarations
• A filled-out parental consent form (Form 1229)

You can also include dependent children aged 18 to 23. But in that case, you have to show that they are financially dependent on you or your spouse or partner.

Documents confirming you are taking help

A filled-out Form 956 is required if you take help from a migration agent or lawyer.

Step 3: Apply for the visa

Complete your Subclass 190 application by submitting all the documents and paying the visa application fee. Scanned copies will be required if you go for an online application.

Step 4: Complete The Tasks After You Apply

The Department of Home Affairs will let you know once they receive your application. After applying, they may ask for other documents like health examination reports, biometrics, etc. You have to respond promptly. Otherwise, the usual 190 Visa processing time may extend, and your application may be eventually rejected.

Step 5: Know your visa outcome

Whatever the outcome may be, the Department of Home Affairs will inform you via email. Once granted, you must remain compliant with all the Visa Subclass 190 conditions to avoid revocation.
