The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library will update its “Illinois Answers the Call: Boys in Blue” Civil War 150th anniversary exhibit in January 2012. Residents are being asked to loan original items from Illinois African-American soldiers to the exhibit.
The presidential library is seeking images, letters, diaries or artifacts pertaining to any African-American Civil War soldier or unit from Illinois, particularly the 29th U.S. Colored Infantry, the largest such unit from the state.
