The Battle of Franklin Trust will offer comprehensive walking tours of the Franklin battlefield originating from The Carter House beginning Tuesday, May 20.
Tours will be offered every Tuesday through Friday at 11 a.m. and will last approximately 90 minutes.
This new tour will take guests to at least seven different locations on the battlefield. Tour guides will focus on many elements of The Battle of Franklin, explaining why it occurred, the arrival of Federal and Confederate armies, and the details of what became known as one of the greatest single assaults of the entire Civil War.
“For decades, guests have come from around the world to experience the brief window we offer into the tragedy and pageantry of that day in 1864,” said The Battle of Franklin Trust Chief Executive Officer Eric A. Jacobson. “Many visitors are returning to Franklin to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the battle. We want to give them a deeper understanding of the events that took place and this is the ideal way to do that.”
Tickets are $25 per person, and may be purchased at The Carter House visitor center. Reservations are encouraged and can be made by contacting Angell Roberts at 615-794-0903 or by emailing [email protected].
