Jackson State kicks off its spring football season against the NAIA’s Edward Waters at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The Tigers will embark on a seven-game spring slate through February, March and April.

Edward Waters College is coming to Jackson for its first scheduled game of the 2021 spring football season. The Tigers are an NAIA program from Jacksonville, Florida.
Sunday marks the first time Jackson State, led by first-year coach Deion Sanders, and Edward Waters will face each other.
Edward Waters, who finished the 2019 season 1-10, last played a Division I opponent, Prairie View A&M, on Nov. 16, 2019. The Panthers defeated Edward Waters 41-14.
Greg Ruffin is in his third season as the Tigers head coach. Ruffin has over 20 years of coaching experience, including a six-season stint at Jackson State as a recruiting coordinator and running backs coach.
Ruffin was an assistant on the staff of JSU’s last Southwestern Athletic Conference championship in 2007. He adopted the tall task of helping a program 20 years into its 2001 rebirth.
