Several months ago, there was no indication a major Civil War re-enactment would be held in Washington County in 2012, the 150th anniversary of the war.

Now, two are planned — on back-to-back weekends in September.

Thomas B. Riford, the president and chief executive officer of the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau, said Wednesday that the Battle of Antietam will be re-enacted on the weekend of Sept. 14-16 in 2012.
